Terms of Service

Last updated: March 3, 2026

Welcome to edtrmd (“the Service”). By accessing or using edtrmd you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

1. Description of Service

edtrmd is a free, browser-based Markdown editor. Your files are stored locally in your browser's storage. Optional features — such as account creation and GitHub sync — may require you to provide an email address or authorize a third-party OAuth provider.

2. Use of the Service

You agree to use edtrmd only for lawful purposes. You must not:

  • Use the Service to transmit unlawful, harmful, or abusive content.
  • Attempt to reverse-engineer, disable, or circumvent any security feature.
  • Use automated scripts to scrape or overload the Service.
  • Impersonate another person or entity.

3. User Accounts

Creating an account is optional. If you create one, you are responsible for maintaining the security of your credentials and for all activity under your account. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.

4. GitHub Integration

The GitHub sync feature requests read/write access to your repositories solely to sync your Markdown files to a private edtr-workspace repository. We do not access, read, or modify any other repository. You can revoke this access at any time via your GitHub account settings.

5. Intellectual Property

You retain full ownership of any content you create with edtrmd. We claim no rights over your files or notes. The edtrmd name, logo, and product are proprietary. Unauthorized copying or redistribution of the Service is prohibited.

6. Data & Privacy

Your use of the Service is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference.

7. Disclaimers

edtrmd is provided “as is” without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not guarantee uninterrupted availability, error-free operation, or that the Service will meet your requirements. Use it at your own risk.

8. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, edtrmd and its contributors shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including loss of data, profits, or goodwill, arising out of your use of — or inability to use — the Service.

9. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. Continued use of the Service after changes become effective constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms.
